The playing field which serves as our outdoor range was donated to Birkenhead School in 1948 by George Leslie McAllester as a memorial to his brother Laurence Charles who died at the early age of 46. His death was the result of drowning following a boating accident during the Hoylake Sailing Club regatta. He had served as a governor of the School between 1913 and 1918.
