The club runs courses for Beginners and Range Returners throughout the year.
To attend or enquire about one of our courses or our Range Returner programme, please email:

Give us your name, email address and whether you want information on beginners or returners. We will get back to you with details of availability and/or waiting times for courses.

Beginners’ Courses
Beginners courses are delivered by our AGB licenced Sessions Coaches along with the support of experienced club archers.
The course is designed to help you develop your basic technique, gain confidence handling the equipment, understand range layout and commands, safety, etiquette, the AGB Rules of Shooting, score your rounds and set-up and take down your equipment.
As we are affiliated to Archery GB, everyone taking the course is fully insured by AGB’s insurance.
At the time of publishing (Aug 2026) the course costs are £65.00 for those aged 18+ and £45.00 for those under 18. This covers your insurance and includes all the equipment needed for the duration of the course.
We recommend that you wear comfortable but close-fitting clothing and closed toe shoes. If it’s cold we also recommend wearing several thin layers rather than one bulky one!
If you need to cancel a lesson at short notice, or you know in advance that you’ll miss a particular week, please let us know so that we can arrange for you to make it up later, as we do not accept members unless they have attended every lesson.
Please note, in the interests of safeguarding, the following rules are in place for archers under the age of 18.
- Due to the stresses and strains that archery can put on a young body, we do not accept children under the age of ten on our courses. There is, however, no upper age limit.
- Children aged between 10 – 12 can attend the course providing their parent/carer also attends the course. We do not allow children in this age group to join the club without their parent/carer also joining.
- Children aged between 13 – 18 who wish to apply for club membership after successfully completing their course, must be accompanied by their parent/carer at all times when shooting.

If it’s been some time since you completed your Beginners’ Course and had to drop out of the sport for whatever reason, we’d be delighted to ease you back in. Our Range Returner programme consists of between one and six sessions, depending on your ability.
So, whether you have extensive experience and just need a one hour refresher session, or you completed a Beginners’ Course, had to step away and need a bit more support with getting back on the shooting line, we can help. You’ll have the opportunity to receive help from one of our Session Coaches, meet other club members who will offer ongoing support before having to become a club member and renew your Archery GB membership.
We know it can be scary coming back after a break but why not give it a try? You’ve got nothing to lose!
